The familiars will animate and emote based on the player's actions.
Episode 9 Act 1 is just around the corner and Riot Games, the developer behind the popular first-person shooter VALORANT, has unveiled a charming new skinline designed to delight fans who adore all things cute.
The Evori Dreamwings skinline brings some adorable, friendly familiars with magical abilities, poised to bolster your arsenal in battle.
What weapons are included?
The weapons included in the skinline are the Vandal, Spectre, Odin, Ghost and a new melee archetype, the Evori’s Spellcaster wand.
Each weapon comes with its own special familiar, such as the butterfly Evori, the cat Lunari, the mouse Solari, the rabbit Terrari, or the bear Amari.
These magical companions will accompany players for each match where they will transform, animate and emote based on the player’s actions during the match.
On top of this, players can summon their weapons into battle with stunning, sparkling equipped animations, and there's even a finisher that turns the map into a starry night sky complete with music. There are also four colours to choose from, so colour-coordinating with friends is easy.
Is there any connection between the Evori Skins and the Star Guardians?
The skins and the familiars look quite similar to the Star Guardians, a skinline from an alternate universe of League of Legends, Riot’s first game title.
Quite particularly, the Evori familiars each have a star on their head that looks exactly like some of the star guardian familiars. On top of this, the familiars Solari and Lunari come from Runeterran tribes and organisations, both from the LoL universe.
But then again, the Evori skinline could have just taken some inspiration from League, with the butterfly being the central theme instead of stars.
Overall though, there were many inspirations for this, with the main one being the magical girl genre, according to Laura Baltzer, Product Manager at Riot Games.
“Magical Girls is a genre that so many people on the team have grown up with and still love to this day. The stories, but also the art and the music, have been making us smile for a long time,” she said.
“Working on it wasn’t easy–there were a lot of things we were doing for the first time and above all we wanted to get it right for players out there, just like us, who care about this genre so much. Everyone brought their best to this skinline.”
Episode 9 Act I will debut an exciting new Battle Pass, featuring a range of items including the Convergence Phantom, Bubble Pop Classic, That’s Terrifying Spray, and many others.
