Evil Geniuses GC had to say goodbye to their VCT Game Changers Championship 2023 run. Team Liquid Brazil put the final nail in the coffin after they won the do-or-die series in the first round of the Lower Bracket.
The North American team is the first team to exit the tournament. The team was stomped by Team SMG in their opening match with a clean 2-0 sweep. The four duelists and a Cypher draft of Team SMG that was recently creating a buzz all over the community destroyed Evil Geniuses GC.
Although the team composition was an honest mistake and not part of an elaborate mind game, Team SMG’s firepower was too much for Evil Geniuses GC to handle.
Indeed, Evil Geniuses GC had an underwhelming performance in the tournament. The team made a quick exit without winning a single map.
On the other hand, Team Liquid Brazil was knocked off to the lower bracket by heavy fan-favorites G2 Gozen. G2 Gozen advanced to the Upper Bracket Semi-Finals unscathed after a 2-0 sweep against the Brazilian team.
Team Liquid Brazil redeemed themselves in the Lower Bracket matchup against Evil Geniuses GC and proved to their hometown crowd that they are a force to be reckoned with.
The first game was a close fight for their tournament life. Team Liquid Brazil ended the first half with a slight advantage of two rounds. Evil Geniuses GC tried to even out the score but Team Liquid Brazil was always a step ahead.
The first game ended with a 13-10 score in favor of the hometown heroes.
Team Liquid Brazil took the momentum and carried it over the second game. They dictated the pace and Evil Geniuses GC couldn’t escape their wrath. After a huge lead in the first half, it seemed impossible for Evil Geniuses GC to crawl back. They missed a lot of key moments that led Team Liquid Brazil to close the match.
Team Liquid Brazil eliminated Evil Geniuses GC in a 2-0 fashion. They will now face BBL Queens in the Lower Bracket for another do-or-die series.
