G2 Esports finally make its way into VCT partnership.

The former roster of The Guard who won VCT Ascension: Americas and earned a spot to partnership league have finally signed with an esports org that will represent them. After all the controversy last season, G2 Esports will finally get the chance to compete in the VCT Americas League picking up four-fifths of The Guard's former roster.

G2 have signed the majority of the roster on a two-year deal, which is also the length of their stay in the VCT. Winners of Ascension will get to participate in the top-tier of the VCT for two seasons or until Riot Games decides to extend the list of partnership teams. This will include the likes of Michael "neT" Bernet, Jonah "JonahP" Pulice, Jacob "valyn" Batio, and Trent "trent" Cairns" alongside their coach, Josh "JoshRT" Lee.

As for the last player on G2's roster, it has yet to be determined with the off-season now in full effect for the next couple of months. G2 last competed in the VCT Challengers League in NA where the team missed out on qualifying for Ascension after they lost against the eventual winners. The organisation was reported set to join VCT Americas last season as a partnership team but that soon ended in disaster.

This was mainly due to the community backlash that surrounded G2 and its founder and ex-CEO, Carlos "ocelote" Rodriguez. His public appearance at a nightclub alongside the famed misogynistic influencer known as Andrew Tate had plenty of people talking on social media.

Rodriguez's affiliation with the former professional kickboxer and reality TV star soon saw Riot make a U-turn on its decision to give G2 partnership status. He would eventually get a two-month unpaid suspension from the org he founded before eventually stepping down as CEO.

G2 will join the other 10 partnership teams in the VCT Americas League next season with the chance of competing in two Masters events with the first being in Madrid, Spain and the second in Shanghai, China. It's first official showing will be KICK-OFF, a two-week international league for each region to determine the two teams that will earn a spot to Masters Madrid.
