FunPlus Phoenix joins EDward Gaming and Bilibili Gaming at the VCT Champions 2023.
The VCT China Qualifier is not yet over but the top three teams that will represent the region in Los Angeles are confirmed. EDward Gaming, Bilibili Gaming, and FunPlus Phoenix filled the three spots for the Chinese region in Los Angeles later this year for the VCT Champions 2023.
The lower bracket semifinal of the VCT China Qualifier has concluded. FunPlus Phoenix came out on top and secured its ticket to Valorant’s most prestigious tournament. Bilibili Gaming is the first Chinese team to qualify for the event after they eliminated Trace Esports in a clean 3-0 fashion.
EDward Gaming followed soon after with a clean sweep as well. The team knocked off Tyloo from the upper bracket semifinal and sealed its spot in VCT Champions.
Bilibili Gaming and EDward Gaming would then duke it out in the upper bracket finals with a slot in the championship series at stake. EDward Gaming showcased its dominance and ended the matchup unscathed. It marked another clean sweep from the team, leaving fans impressed as they took the grand finals slot without dropping a single map.
Bilibili Gaming was knocked down to the lower bracket finals where they battled against FunPlus Phoenix for a slot in the championship series. FunPlus Phoenix had a long run in the lower bracket after Tyloo got the better of them in the upper bracket quarterfinal. This gave fans a chance to catch a rematch between the two as they fought for the last spot at the VCT Champions.
In the end, FunPlus Phoenix was the better team and took three out of four maps in the series. The endeavour completed the list of Chinese teams participating in VCT Champions 2023. The slots for the most-awaited tournament of the year are running out. With only four spots remaining, teams are eager to snatch up the last ticket in their regions. The four remaining slots will be from VCT Last Chance Qualifier winners from the Pacific, EMEA, and Americas. An extra slot was awarded to the EMEA region after Fnatic won VCT Masters Tokyo 2023.
VCT Champions will start in August with a total of 16 teams vying to be crowned as the champions.
