Team Singapore propels itself to the grand finals in VALORANT for the 32nd SEA Games

The red-and-white will fight for the first-ever VALORANT gold medal at the 32nd SEA Games.

Team Singapore has gotten its revenge over Team Vietnam with a clean 2-0 victory to send themselves to the grand finals for the first-ever VALORANT tournament at the 32nd SEA Games. After losing to Vietnam in overtime on the opening day of the tournament, Singapore has since bounced back and has secured a top-two spot. As for Indonesia, they will have to settle for a bronze medal match-up against Team Philippines.

The first half of game one on Ascent was very much even between both teams, which was also what happened during their opening match of the tournament. However, with Vietnam going on the offensive in the second half, Singapore was able to hold them back for seven of the eight rounds that were played. Indonesia also failed to plant the spike on two separate rounds, making it that much harder to mount a comeback in game one.

Singapore also managed to win both their eco rounds while Indonesia failed to win any of their four eco rounds. Singapore even managed seven out of 11 full-buy round wins while Indonesia could only manage six out of 12.

Game two saw both teams head to Fracture in another tightly-contested match. With Singapore being the spike carrier for the first half, Vietnam was finally going head-to-head with Singapore, securing three successful defuses along with a team wipe to get four of the 12 rounds. The second half was very tight with Vietnam winning the first two rounds before Singapore bounced back with a team wipe, followed by two successful defuses.

Both teams would soon trade rounds before Singapore won the last pivotal round to secure the win. It was fair even across the board for game two with both teams winning one pistol round each. They both also only won one of their three eco rounds but what stood out for both teams were their semi- and full-buy rounds.

Vietnam could only win four of the 10 rounds when they went full-buy while Singapore took eight of the 12 full-buy rounds. It went even worse for Vietnam during their semi-buy rounds, winning only three of the seven rounds while Singapore won three out of five.
