From one superstar to another.
With the super week done and dusted, we're in the final stretch of the VCT Americas and with just four weeks left, Sentinels have announced a change in their starting roster by bringing in Jimmy "Marved" Nguyen for the rest of the split in place for Tyson "TenZ" Ngo. This was confirmed by Sentinels' new head coach, Adam “kaplan” Kaplan in a video posted on the team's Twitter.
Marved already made his debut for the team over the super week, playing in both of Sentinels' matches against the likes of LOUD and MIBR. The decision to move Marved to the starting lineup ahead of the fifth week of games was due to giving TenZ enough time away from competitive play to rest and recover.
It was earlier reported that TenZ was suffering from a joint infection in his left hand. While he initially played through the injury in Sentinels' previous matches against NRG and Leviatán, he had since also caught COVID and had no choice but to sit out during the super week. This gave Marved the chance to step in and finally make his debut.
While Sentinels didn't win both their matches during the super week, they did manage to take a game off of LOUD, the current league leaders who are also on a five-game unbeaten streak. In their following game against MIBR, Sentinels finally got their win and placed their three-game losing streak to an end.
In both games, Marved proved why he was a key acquisition from OpTic Gaming. Being part of the same roster that dominated last year, Marved put up impressive numbers during his games against LOUD and MIBR. He had the second-highest rating on his team against LOUD at 1.11 with an ACS of 233. Against MIBR, he scored the highest rating out of both teams with 1.44 and an ACS of 275.
Sentinels are back in action in two days' time against Cloud9, who is the second-best team in the VCT Americas league at the moment with a 4-1 score. Another win would put Sentinels in a good place to advance to the playoffs with only just three games remaining after that. They will still have to play against the likes of Evil Geniuses, KRÜ Esports, and FURIA Esports.
