Lurkers are getting pretty popular in late game zvt, however most Zergs use them like ultras. They just run them into enemy and burrow in their face. While it’s certainly fast and easy way to use them, it’s not always the most efficient. Especially running into sieged tanks or planetaries. I think Zergs could learn a thing or two from TvT. In TvT, you don’t attack into planetaries head first (unless you have overwhelming numbers). Instead you siege it. Your enemy has to spend money on repairs and if they want to save it, they have to attack into your sieged position, so you can trade well. Lurkers can be used the same way. They outrange the planetary, so they can lay siege from a safe distance. It’s not as fast, so Terran has more time to respond, but at least you’re not losing units. In TvT, you also don’t attack into siege tanks (unless you have overwhelming numbers). If you want to break tank lines, you either have to use ravens to disable them, or kill/push them back with liberators(if you have air control). Same principles can be used in zvt. You can use vipers to blinding cloud the tanks, so your lurkers can get in range and siege safely. Or you can burrow outside of tanks range and pull them in with abduct. And if they have too many tanks, you can switch to broodlords. I’m not smarter than the pros, so there must be some reason why don’t do that. Maybe they don’t have enough practice with siege warfare. Maybe they think killing bases quickly is more important than trading efficiently. Maybe Terran siege defense is actually too good. Tanks outrange lurkers, so if you siege too slowly, they can move their tanks into position to defend. Still, I think it’s better than running your siege units into heavily defended positions and losing half of them before they can burrow.
