REUNITED becomes Player Owned Organization backed by Investors

The Overwatch team of REUNITED has had incredible success during the Beta of Overwatch. However, they raised a few eyebrows with the decision to leave their former organization, fnatic, early in the Beta. Today the team announced their plans for the future.

And those plans are: With the backing of multiple investors, REUNITED will become a player owned organization, following the model of Astralis.

With the help of their longtime manager and friend, Frederik Kragh Christensen, who will be taking over the role of the Managing Director, REUNITED hopes to build a long lasting legacy that will extend beyond the bounds of Overwatch. With the funding secured, the organization hopes to acquire teams in other popular eSports titles that match the philosophy of the team and brand.

The founding members of the team all received shares in the company and will be part-owners while still continuing to play actively.

Frederik Kragh Christensen, Managing Director, had the following to say:

Although we got approached by other eSports organizations, we are very happy that we managed to convince investors to support our vision to build this organization. Overwatch has the potential to become huge and amaze the eSports crowd.

Team-captain Thomas “Morte” Kerbusch added:

It feels great to own part of the organization you play for. It underlines our dedication to build an authentic brand by players for players. We are here to stay and build a multi-team organization with Frederik.

It remains to be seen whether the added responsibility of running their own organization will negatively impact the performances of the team in Overwatch, or if the complete freedom will increase their drive even more.
