Coming off hot from the semifinals, Great Britain started the finals with a fast-paced draft built for objective taking and strong right click damage. Little Lucy on Drow Ranger and Ruby on Templar Assassin, buffed from the support lines by an Ogre Magi, were able to heavily punish the Singaporean line-up that was reliant on big team fight cooldowns. While the two teams were neck and neck on the kill score, the gold , experience and full map advantage were in favour of Great Britain, who were melting down the towers, giving no chance for Singapore’s Medusa to play her late game scenario.
Singapore recognized the draft mistakes and perfectly adapted to the UK's fast-paced playstyle. Although they kept Medusa for the second game draft, they took the Ogre Magi for themselves and added a mid lane Windrager to have the early map presence. They played the early and mid game stages with WR stirring the pot and finding the pickoffs that allowed Medusa to solo farm until she felt ready to join the fights and send the finals into a decisive game three.
Despite both games going down fairly quickly, the third and final one went over 70 minutes, as both teams geared up for late game shenanigans. Team Singapore continued their Windranger-Ogre Magi plan, while also adding a Luna in the carry position.
Great Britain was fighting with Wraith King in the front line and had an Underlord-Jakiro offlane duo that proved to be a true pain in the laning stage for the squishy Luna. Nonetheless, both teams had great tools for pickoffs and delivered an action-packed game, with kills traded around the map every minute. However, the Luna-WR push was definitely much stronger and eventually Great Britain were cornered in their base.
It was their relentless defence that forced the ladies from Singapore to a past 70-minute game, where they had to give their all and hunt for every small mistake from the opposition in order to claim the gold medal. With each team’s carry being absolute beasts with their six slotted inventories and both packing Divine Rapiers, the nerves kicked in and a couple of pickoffs outside Great Britain’s base allowed Team Singapore to close the series 2-1.
Both countries will have another shot at winning another round of medals in the Dota 2 open category, where male teams will enter the arena. The four teams fighting tomorrow for a place on the podium are representing Brazil, Singapore, Mongolia and Great Britain. The grand finals will be broadcast live on the Global Esports Federation Twitch and YouTube channels, as well as on the Global Esports Games official Facebook page at 18:15 local time/ 11:15 CET.
