Similar to Starcraft 2's history of such an entity from the likes of Complexity and Fnatic, one has developed for LoL and Rekkles is the first man to fill the slot.
Earlier this week we had the grim news regarding Rekkles' departure from Fnatic's line-up. However, Fnatic announced yesterday that rather than actually being off the team, their AD carry "Rekkles" will be the "6th" member of the team, filling the first slot of the upcoming "Fnatic Academy" team.
This team will work together to compete in 3rd party tournaments that are not hosted by Riot. Rekkles had this to say about the matter:
"It's with great sadness that I will be leaving the Fnatic professional roster. After months of discussion between us and riot we couldn't find a way for me to play in RIOT events in season 3.
I wish my team goodluck in the future and hope they carry on performing well in season 3 qualifiers. However I won't be leaving the organisation. I will be creating an academy team with the help of Fnatic for 2013 and will return stronger than ever!"

Having shown his strength sprouting rapidly in this preseason, it would be no surprise for him to remain a top contender when the appropriate age arrives for him. On top of that, it is very likely that should Fnatic need a sub, Rekkles will be their first choice.
