OG officially enter MLBB by partnering with Selangor Red Giants

European esports giant OG has expanded into the Asia-Pacific region and partnered with Malaysian MLBB powerhouse SRG.

Iconic European esports organisation OG has officially entered the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) esports scene by securing a strategic global partnership with Malaysian MLBB powerhouse Selangor Red Giants (SRG), OG announced on Monday (17 March).

As part of the agreement, SRG will use the name SRG.OG as they compete in the MLBB Professional League (MPL) Malaysia and other international tournaments for a year.

OG is most known for being one of the most successful organisations in Dota 2, where they became the first team in the game's history to win The International (TI) – Dota 2's annual world championship tourmament – twice in back-to-back years in TI 2018 and TI 2019. The organisation also previously expanded into Counter-Strike prior to its entry into MLBB.

Meanwhile, SRG recently made history by winning Malaysia's first major MLBB international trophy in the MLBB Mid Season Cup 2024 and becoming the first team to claim back-to-back MPL Malaysia championship titles.

OG also posted a video on its official social media pages, featuring founder and two-time TI champion Johan “N0tail” Sundstein announcing the organisation's new partnership with SRG.

According to the press release sent by MPL Malaysia, the partnership between OG and SRG will “extend beyond co-branding and encompass a deep exchange of resources and expertise”. Both organisations will share access to technical, media, merchandise, and marketing capabilities to foster mutual growth and innovation. This collaboration is also expected to significantly strengthen both brands' presence in the competitive esports landscape.

Furthermore, the partnership aims to solidify and expand the fanbase of both organizations, particularly within the Dota 2 and MLBB communities in the Asia-Pacific region.

Simon Lim, SRG's team director, said the collaboration represents a significant milestone for SRG:

“We are incredibly excited to embark on this strategic partnership with OG Esports. This collaboration represents a significant milestone for SRG, allowing us to leverage OG's global expertise and resources to elevate our MLBB team and expand our reach globally. We are confident that this partnership will bring immense value to our fans and the broader esports community.”

Dan Sanders, OG Esports' CEO, echoed Simon's sentiments:

"Partnering with Selangor Red Giants is a fantastic opportunity for OG to deepen our connection with the vibrant esports scene in Southeast Asia. We are eager to share our expertise and collaborate on exciting initiatives, starting with the co-branding of the SRG MLBB team. We believe this partnership will create a powerful platform to engage with fans and drive growth in the region."

This strategic partnership underscores the commitment of both SRG and OG to fostering growth and innovation in the global esports arena. Fans can expect to see exciting developments and initiatives stemming from this collaboration in the coming months.
