Malaysia and Indonesia claimed the championships in the MLBB mixed and women's divisions, respectively.
Malaysia and Indonesia were the victorious countries in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) tournaments for the IESF World Esports Championship 2024.
Malaysia secured victory in the mixed MLBB division, which was hosted from November 12 to 15. Meanwhile, the women's MLBB event from November 16 to 19 saw Indonesia again show why they have the strongest women's MLBB players in the world after they failed to do so in the MLBB Women's Invitational 2024.
Malaysia win the IESF mixed MLBB championship
Team Malaysia, spearheaded by Selangor Red Giants personnel, started their journey with a not-so-stellar 2-1 showing in the Group Stage. They swept Team USA, 2-0, but fell to Team Philippines, 2-1, in their second match. Team Malaysia then swept Team USA for the second time to secure a Playoff spot as the second seed of Group B.
In the Playoffs, Team Malaysia defeated Team Turkey – manned by ULFHEDNAR players – in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, they met Team Indonesia, represented by Fnatic ONIC plus Luke "Luke" Valentinus from Bigetron Alpha. Team Malaysia went through their Indonesian opponents, albeit barely, with a 2-1 scoreline.
In the grand finals, Team Malaysia met with Team Philippines again to avenge their previous loss in the Group Stage. This time, they defeated Team Philippines in the in a 2-0 sweep to secure the title for Malaysia.
Indonesia bag the IESF women's MLBB title
In the women's division, Team Indonesia secured an upper bracket playoff spot after a perfect Group Stage run, winning all five games in the round-robin format. They destroyed Team Cambodia, 2-0, in the upper bracket semifinals before defeating Team Egypt, who managed to steal one game from the eventual champions.
Team Indonesia met Team Cambodia again in the grand finals and defeated once more with the same 2-0 scoreline to get the right to call themselves the champions of the IESF women's MLBB division.
With their victories, Team Malaysia secured $70,000 while Team Indonesia walked away with $50,000.
