ONIC Esports dropped a bombshell with the announcement of their new vice president of esports franchise.
Indonesian esports organisation ONIC Esports has announced Denver “Yeb” Miranda, the former head coach of its Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) team Fnatic ONIC, as their new vice president of esports franchise.
The four-time MLBB Professional League (MPL) Indonesia winner bid goodbye to the squad as he left, wishing them luck. However, tears of sadness turned to joy as he announced his return to the team as their vice president. While there was no official job description for what Yeb would do, it can be assumed that he would oversee ONIC's entire Mobile Legends division, as the official announcement stated he would bring the division to new heights.
Previously, Yeb coached both Fnatic ONIC and Fnatic ONIC PH (then ONIC Philippines), reaching the M World Championship Series grand finals with both of them. However, the biggest prize in Mobile Legends eluded him, and losing in the grand finals of the M3 and M5 World Championships.
During Yeb's last tenure as Fnatic ONIC's head coach, the team's streak of four-straight seasons of winning the MPL Indonesia title came to an end as the squad was eliminated in the Play-Ins of the MPL Indonesia Season 14 Playoffs, losing 3-2 to Geek Fam ID. Yeb ended his Fnatic ONIC head coach career as a three-time, consecutive MPL Indonesia winner, having the Season 10 title as an analyst.
Interestingly, while he failed to bring Fnatic ONIC to the M World Series for the first time, their Philippines branch will carry the Fnatic ONIC brand in the M6 World Championship as they leave MPL Philippines Season 14 as the champion.
Fnatic ONIC PH will compete in the M6 World Championship against Team Liquid ID, the champion of MPL Indonesia Season 14, and 22 other teams from all across the world for this year's MLBB world title.
