Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League breaks yet another viewership record

According to Esports Charts, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang becomes the first esport to breach the one billion hours watched mark with its Professional League.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League, more widely known as the MPL, exists in multiple regions and has since 2017. Since it began, MPL, and MLBB as a whole, has taken the esports world by storm – especially as a mobile gaming title, and now it is taking a step even further in the right direction. Having conquered esports records previously, MLBB is now up there again, becoming the first ever esport to have over one billion hours watched, as calculated and confirmed by Esports Charts.

MLBB and the MPL beat the likes of League of Legends with their Champions Korea event (LCK) and Worlds 2024, with the latter currently ongoing and set to become the second esports event to break the one billion hours watched milestone. However, for MLBB, this is a massive undertaking, with the game growing rapidly in popularity beyond the borders of Southeast Asia.

In just eight years, the MPL has amassed a huge following, with the Philippines and Indonesia generally being the main focal point – but Singapore and Malaysia remain valiant too. With Myanmar, Latin America, Brazil, Cambodia, and the Middle East & North Africa all thrown into the mix, the MPL has burst through the thresholds and taken this amazing feat for itself and the fans of MLBB across the globe.

As the various MPL tournaments continue across multiple regions this coming weekend, the numbers will only grow from here, and while Worlds 2024 also continues, these two juggernauts and many other events will fight it out to the next record-breaking milestones. Whether it be Valorant, Dota 2, PUBG Mobile, LoL, or MLBB, this shows that esports is still alive and kicking, as we reach the final few months of the year.
