A brand-new MLBB tournament is on the way – but this one is aimed at bringing out the best of Malaysia within their higher learning institutions.
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) has seen a lot of growth this year, with a big move for the professional teams, as they stepped out of Southeast Asia and into the international realm.
On the SEA front, the game continues to shine and grow, with aspects such as the Developmental League in place to support the upcoming stars. Malaysia has now taken another step forward, as a new a new tournament is announced which will be aimed at students in higher education institutions.
With the world buzzing about MLBB, Hotlink has decided to take the opportunity to step into the scene, bringing us their first ever esports competition within the title and aiming their sights at empowering the students of MY. The tournament itself will take place in an online setting during September, before the grand finale will bring the best teams together for an offline event in October of this year. The grand finale will take place at the UiTM Shah Alam from the 18th to 20th of October and will feature the top eight teams fighting for a share of a RM100,000 prize pool.
Rabiras Raajakrishnan, Head of Postpaid at Maxis, had the following to say on the tournament,
We are super excited to be hosting Hotlink Uni Legends MLBB for the first time to expose university students in Malaysia to esports in a big way. With MLBB being one of the most popular mobile games in Malaysia, we hope this event reaches out to a wider group of youths and provides them with an outlet for teamwork, strategy, and wholesome fun,”
Registration for the event is currently open to all students studying at a place of higher education within the MY region. Players need only to find a team of six and sign up before August 19th if they want a chance to compete in the tournament. With what promises to be a stunning event in the 3-day grand finale – featuring music, food, and many other activities to enjoy, the Hotlink Uni Legends MLBB 2024 is something to look forward to.
