MOONTON Games announces an overhaul for MPL MENA

In the continued wake of MSC 2024 being a part of the EWC, MPL MENA is set to see a complete revamp for what will be its fifth season.

Ever since it began in 2022, the Mobile Legends Professional League for the Middle East and North Africa has been slowly but surely gaining a head of steam. Beginning with the Spring Split back then, we saw teams from the wide region begin their battles to become the best Mobile Legends: Bang Bang team in MENA. Following this, we even saw MENA obtaining a slot at the M4 World Championship – with 2023 also giving the MPL victors a spot at the MLBB Southeast Asia Cup, which involved international teams for the first time. Now, as the tournament rebrands and moves forward, MENA will be too.

An overhaul to benefit all

MOONTON Games today announced a complete revamp coming to MPL MENA, which will see the tournament fit in closer to other MPL events such as ones in the Philippines, Indonesia, and Singapore. With two spots on offer for the MLBB Mid Season Cup 2024 (MSC 2024), MPL MENA will see an expanded tournament structure, as the region and league continue to grow to impressive heights. As one of only three regions with two direct spots to MSC, MENA should definitely be a strong challenger for the title at the Esports World Cup (EWC) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, later this year.

Jaime Cruz, Head of Esports for MENA at MOONTON Games had the following to say on the region's MPL changes,

Teams in the MENA region will have the home-court advantage when the world arrives in Riyadh for MSC 2024. We've introduced these changes in anticipation of that, to prepare and uplift teams so they can take full advantage. It also brings us a step closer to parity with other regions in the MLBB Esports ecosystem and reaffirms the development of the league and community.”

MPL MENA Season 5 begins this week, on April 18th, and will feature a roster of ten teams – all competing for a prize pool of over $107,000, and the chance to compete for an outrageous $3,000,000 at MSC 2024. It will be interesting to see if MENA can stand up against the best MLBB teams in the world when MSC comes around later this year.
