No longer SEA-centric, Moonton rebrands MSC to Mid Season Cup

Moonton officially rebrands MSC from MLBB South East Asia Cup to Mid Season Cup with a more globalized vision.

Moonton officially rebrands MSC from Mobile Legends Southeast Asia Cup to Mid Season Cup. This change accommodates a new vision from Moonton for the mid-season tournament. With a more globalized target, MSC, heading to its 8th year, will be held outside South East Asia.

With a more extensive reach for the Mid Season Cup, Moonton announced that the tournament will have more teams participating, a larger prize pool, and higher stakes. However, when or where the competition will be held is still unknown. The stakes and how many teams will be included in the tournament are also not announced.

With the inclusion of teams outside of Southeast Asia, more teams from around the world will have a new chance to show their gameplay to all fans of MLBB. With increased exposure, this will be a chance for other organizations to invest in the Mobile Legends esports scene.

MSC's new vision for the better of Mobile Legends' esports

Before 2024, MSC was a tournament primarily focused on the Southeast Asia Mobile Legends' esports scene. Only teams from the aforementioned region are allowed to participate. This creates a rift of power between Southeast Asia and other regions. SEA-centric teams will have more experience, exposure, and opportunity than teams in other regions.

However, it's slowly changed with the growth of MLBB outside of Southeast Asia. The 2023 edition of MSC features three teams from outside of the region. Those three are Outplay from North America, Team Occupy from MENA (Middle East and North Africa), and Fire Flux from Turkey.

That 2023 edition, the name MLBB Southeast Asia Cup, felt a little out of place with the inclusion of those three teams from outside of SEA. With the name change, it is now proper for those teams to be included in the mid-season tournament. This might be when Chinese teams will have another opportunity to shine after their debut in the M5 World Championship.

Expect more information to be shared by Moonton in the near future.
