M5 is quickly approaching, and while we await the final challengers from the Philippines to be decided, the Wildcard Tournament has all eight teams ready to go.
For this year’s iteration of the M5 World Championship, much like at the Mobile Legends Southeast Asia Cup earlier this year, we welcome some big changes. Apart from CIS making their return as Eastern Europe and Central Asia now, having missed out on M4, more teams and regions now have a massive chance to make it to the main stage through the Wildcard Tournament.

The M5 Wildcard Tournament features a total of eight teams, from various regions across the world, which now also includes China, Mongolia, and South Asia. While some regions saw their second or third-placed teams in MPL and the like qualify to the Wildcard, some had their own specific qualifier directly into the new tournament. The Wildcard will see the teams drawn into two groups where they will participate in a single round robin, from which the top 2 teams of each group will play in a crossover match – while the bottom two will be eliminated.
The winners of this crossover match will find themselves entering the hallowed grounds of the M5 group stage, while the losing teams will sadly have to try again next year. The Wildcard begins on November 23rd and runs through to the 26th, and the list of teams that will be participating in this is as follows:
- Imperio (Liga Latam 2023)
- Team SMG (MPL MY)
- Umbrella Squad (MCC)
- 4Merical Esports (MCB)
- Nightmare Esports (M Challenge Cup)
- Team Lilgun (ENC Mongolia)
- Team Falcons (MPL MENA)
- KeepBest Gaming (China Qualifier)
While we have not seen many of these regions in action on the international stage previously, teams such as SMG and Nightmare could have a very discernible advantage – but Mobile Legends: Bang Bang always has upsets, and we are expecting some big ones in the M5 Wildcard Tournament. We will have more information on all these teams, and their rosters in the coming weeks, so stay tuned to the GosuGamers MLBB tab.
