Falcon Esports has disbanded its Mobile Legends: Bang Bang roster following a shock announcement earlier today.
Esports can often be a rather fickle field, with players and teams chopping and changing without much care for their fans or other players. MLBB seems to change a lot of this, with players often building a bond with their teams and organisations alike, sticking with them through thick and thin, the good and the bad. This is why it comes as a massive surprise today as Falcon Esports, the Myanmar roster which rose to fame over the last two years, suddenly announced that they would be disbanding.
Having fought so hard and for so long, acquiring a solid following over the years as they bounced from accolade to accolade, Falcon’s decision to call it quits comes on the back of what seems like many issues within their region. While poor boot camp experiences with a lack of electricity have been cited as one of the possible reasons, the team’s decision seemed to have already been made by the time they got to the recent 32nd SEA Games, where Kenneth “Kenn” Hein stated that this would be their “last dance”.
With their failure to qualify for the Mobile Legends Southeast Asia Cup 2023, which begins in a little over a week, the decision from Falcon leaves some of the best players in the game open to moves across SEA. Rumours have already begun to fly around of where some of the players might end up, with Min Ko “Naomi” Ko slated to be moving to Indonesia, Pyae Sone “JustiN” Khant exploring options within Cambodia and ID, and Kenn with a potential move over to Malaysia.
Even with the door of this Falcon Esports iteration closing, it only opens new opportunities for both these players and new ones to rise through the ranks and become the next star of MLBB. As the game continues to grow exponentially in both the men’s and women’s divisions, and Myanmar being one of the regions which shine at all times, we can rest easy knowing that this is definitely not the last we have seen of the ex-Falcon player or the organisation.
