MPL ID Season 11: Unstoppable ONIC, but for how long

With the second week of the MPL Indonesia Season 11 event behind us, not much has changed for most teams – as ONIC Esports stand alone at the top.

Over the recent weekend we saw Week 2 of Season 11 of the Mobile Legends Professional League in Indonesia take place. For the most part, there were no major surprises, but we did end with a so-called, “El-Clasico” series as EVOS Legends and RRQ went head-to-head. The results from nearly every series were as expected, with some teams still struggling to find any way up – while one team has solidified atop the leaderboard.

Reignition required

AURA Fire have opened the season with what could only be described as “on the back foot”, in the nicest possible way. However, after facing the two strongest teams in ID during Week 2, there is a rather small positive side to things for the team. From what we have seen, they have been unable to really make a strong impact against most teams – until the games go to a super late period. During Week 1 and now in Week 2, the team recorded two single game victories which came in around the 30-minute mark. This could be something to boost the team’s morale, and focus on in the future as they hope to finally find a series win come Week 3.

ONIC the unstoppable

ONIC and RRQ have blasted into the lead in ID, as per usual, but this past weekend we saw the two teams going up against one another, a series always worth witnessing. It was the PH-connection, Kairi who shined again, dominating the Kings of Kings at every turn, and making it an easy clean sweep. With that said, it was not all sunshine and rainbows for ONIC, as they dropped a game in each of their next two series – something for other teams to maybe look into for an edge in the future.

All-in-all, the standings are pretty much what was expected, especially this early on in the Regular Season. EVOS Legends saw some moments of greatness, as they attempted to dismantle RRQ at the end of the week, but it was too much for them in the end. With another four weeks still to come, things are sure to heat up as we look forward to the upcoming Week 3 at MPL ID Season 11.
