Yesterday we witnessed one of the biggest upsets in the history of Mobile Legends Professional League as Execration executed a reverse sweep to eliminate the Season 6 and M2 World Champions from the tournament. Blacklist International were also part of the headlines, securing not only the first grand finalist spot, but also becoming the first Philippine representative for the upcoming MSC 2021. But today would see which team would join Blacklist in the grand final followed by which team would be crowned as Season 7 champions.

The champion killers

Fresh off their magnificent comeback against Bren Esports yesterday, Execration came into their series against Aura PH looking ready to dominate. With both Bennyqt and Hate being a part of XctN in Season 6, while Renzio and Kielvj were part of the Aura squad, there was a lot on the line for the players in their new squads – including a spot at MSC 2021.

XctN were on the warpath as they went into the lower bracket final, leaving Aura with very few chances to turn things around. After an easy game 1 victory, things became a bit tougher in game 2 for XctN – but thanks to a perfect defense from E2Max, they reclaimed their footing and claimed another win. It wasn’t long before XctN had stamped their spot in their first grand final for the organisation, extinguishing the Aura fires.

The win sees Execration become the second seed for Philippines at MSC 2021, as well as setting themselves up for a grand final against Blacklist.

The King versus the Queen

The grand finals were set and there were so many story lines to be written about Execration taking on Blacklist International. From the “King” versus “Queen” battle of Kielvj against OhMyV33nus, to the Regular Season domination of Blacklist battling a team which have already assassinated two former champions – the best-of-seven series would be nothing short of intense.

XctN were on a massive win-streak going into the series, having won their last five games in a row, and having not lost a single series since the beginning of Week 6 of the regular season. The team took this into a series against the  seemingly unstoppable and opened by taking two quick game wins. Thanks to Kelra’s magnificent Alice in game 1 and Kielvj’s Roger in game 2, alongside the rest of the team, XctN seemed just about ready to create history.

Things were far from over between these two juggernauts, as Blacklist found victory before XctN claimed another for their tally, moving up to championship point. However, with their backs against the wall, that’s when Blacklist found their ultimate power, absolutely destroying XctN’s hope for a quick victory as they tied the series at 3-3 and took things to a decisive game 7, especially thanks to Eson’s Franco.

One final game was all that remained to determine the MPL – PH Season 7 champions, we got to see another Blacklist Aldous. Not wanting the hero to drop below its 100% win rate, Blacklist dominated once again, channeling their fury from the first few losses into an epic 4-3 series victory.

While Execration do have to settle for a runner up position at MPL – PH Season 7, both teams will be back in a little over a week when MSC 2021 kicks off. Stay tuned to our MLBB tab for more information on this event, as all teams have now been confirmed for the massive battle to determine the masters of the game in the Southeast Asia region. For now, a huge congratulations to Blacklist International on their brilliant win.
