M6 World Championship team profiles: Falcon Esports, flying high for Myanmar

After missing out on M5, Falcon Esports are back to the big stage for M6 to show the world Myanmar means business.

The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) M6 World Championship is already underway, with 23 of the best MLBB teams from all across the world fighting to claim the lion's share of a $1 million prize pool and this year's MLBB world title. In this series, we'll be taking a look at all the teams that qualified for the Swiss Stage and their chances of becoming the 2024 MLBB world champions.

We are now on our thirteenth entry in this series, which will shine the spotlight on Falcon Esports, who will be carrying the banner of Myanmar.

Falcon Esports roster:

Even if Myanmar hasn't had its own MLBB Professional League (MLBB) since 2020, the country has still maintained a fearsome reputation in MLBB Esports for producing teams that can go toe-to-toe with the very best the rest of the world have to offer. In the early days of the scene, it was Burmese Ghouls that brought Myanmar to the forefront of MLBB esports by finishing fourth in M1 and almost capturing the world title in M2.

But now, it is Falcon Esports that will be carrying the banner of Myanmar to MLBB's biggest stage this year. And deservedly so, as this organisation has been known to make a lot of noise in international competitions over the years.

In 2022, Falcon Esports finished fourth in that year's MLBB Southeast Asia Cup and in the Top 6 at M4 two years removed from the dissolution of MPL Myanmar. And after failing to qualify for M5 last year, the team entered the 2024 calendar with a huge chip on their shoulders.

Most of Falcon Esports' M6 roster were signed in July 2023 as the team spent much of 2023 rebuilding. KidX was the most recent addition of the team's main five, joining in January this year. With its roster complete, Falcon Esports started rolling.

They had a near-perfect run through the Myanmar qualifier for the 2024 MLBB Mid Season Cup, losing just three games across the entire event. In the Mid Season Cup, they earned the second seed of Group D and qualified for the Knockout Stage, falling to Liquid Echo in the quarterfinals and exiting with a respectable 5th-8th place finish.

Falcon Esports then earned their spot in M6 through the tournament's Myanmar qualifier. They had a strong start to the qualifier by finishing atop their group with a 4-0 match record. However, they stumbled in the Play-Ins after losing to Zino Esports, 2-1, and getting forced to a lower bracket start in the Playoffs.

With their backs against the wall, Falcon Esports locked in and scored back-to-back 3-1 victories over AI Esports in the lower bracket semifinals and against Zino Esports in a revenge match in the lower bracket finals. That allowed Falcon Esports to advance to the grand finals against Mythic SEAL, where the all-important spot in M6 was up for grabs.

Mythic SEAL started strong by winning the first two games of the series, only for Falcon Esports to bounce back big time and win three-straight games to take a commanding 3-2 series lead. However, Mythic SEAL won game six to force the grand finals to a deciding game seven. And with everything on the line, Falcon Esports soared to victory in the 15-minute decider to become Myanmar's representative in the M6 World Championship.

Falcon Esports may not be the biggest contender for this year's MLBB world title, but teams in the M6 World Championship would do well to be wary of them. After all, a team from Myanmar almost won the world championship from out of nowhere back in M2. Falcon Esports could very well be the team that will fly Myanmar's banner all the way to the top step this year.

M6 World Championship team profiles:

The M6 World Championship will take place from November 21 to December 15 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and is split into three distinct phases: the Wildcard Stage from November 21 to 24, the Swiss Stage from November 28 to December 5, and the Knockout Stage from December 7 to 15.

Of the 23 participating teams, 15 directly qualified to the Swiss Stage while eight others will start in the Wildcard Stage, where they will fight for the 16th and final spot in the Swiss Stage. For everything you need to know about the M6 World Championship, check here.
