MWI 2024: Myanmar's newest stars look to cause chaos

Burmese teams have impressed us in MLBB on multiple occasions, and Net Angels is looking to do exactly that at MWI 2024.

Over the years of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang’s professional scene, we have seen some standout performances from teams when we least expect it. Although this may not have happened with Burmese Ghouls-Reinas at MWI 2023, their brother squad proved their strengths at the M1 and M2 World Championships – and in the Mobile Legends Professional League for Myanmar. More recently we have seen the likes of Falcon Esports raising the region's flag, and Net Angels are hoping to do exactly that at the Mobile Legends Women’s Invitational 2024, in the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Newcomers can lead the way

When it comes to MLBB, one thing that we have always heard is, “anything can happen” and this is the best way to look at Net Angels when it comes to MWI 2024. Although the players may not be completely new to the game, the team was only created in the latter parts of 2023 – which makes reaching MWI one of the biggest achievements for the roster. With that said the team is hard working and strives to become the best female MLBB with their region and on a global level.

With the majority of the team hailing from Myanmar, the team do have two players from Indonesia in their roster, giving them that boost which seems to be part of the meta in MLBB in recent years. For a team that has been together for less than a year, Net Angels has already made waves – taking down Falcon Daisies at the Gameverse Mission 2024 – Female, just a few weeks ago and at the MWI 2024 Myanmar Qualifier. The upcoming tournament is set to be a huge test for the women, but they seem ready for the challenge.

Myanmar’s squads are always a threat

When it comes to a new team, there is often not much to talk about when it comes to achievements. As mentioned previously, their squad only has a handful of events played together, but that has not stopped them on their path forward. Prior to their current lineup, the team’s greatest moment was their win at the GG Gaming Fest in 2023, which saw them begin on their upward trajectory as they took down their challengers one by one to raise the trophy at their first-ever tournament. The full Net Angels roster heading to MWI 2024 is:

  • Yadanar “Hlaing” Hlaing
  • Hsu Yamin “Cassie” Htet
  • Wint Yadanar “Ckoshii” Lin
  • Su Wai “Kuu” Zin
  • Disty Alfia “Vanilla” Wulandari
  • Ira “Namira” Kusnindi

A star in Myanmar

Vanilla may originally be from ID and has only been with Net Angels for a few months, but she has been able to really shine in the Jungle role with the team. Having originally been a Gusion main, who only played that specific hero, Vanilla has definitely come a long way since she started in the professional MLBB scene in 2020. However, over the years she has found herself a part of a few teams – building up her confidence in new heroes before making her way to Net Angels, where things have definitely moved faster than she expected.

With her first experience on stage only coming in early June, Vanilla helped her team to secure second place at the MESL Pro Series 2024 – Women before two huge victories came her way. June has been a splendid month for Vanilla and Net Angels, qualifying for MWI 2024 and becoming champions of Gameverse Mission 2024 – Female, and the team will now be looking to the end of July for another step in the right direction. Although Vanilla has admitted that she may have a bit of stage fright, chances are high that she’s overcome this as the team goes in search of a championship title at MWI 2024.

Net Angels will begin their run at MWI 2024 on July 24th, where they will need to take on some of the strongest teams in the world if they want to come out on top. But, with players such as Vanilla in the Jungle, and the added threat of Burmese teams showing up strong, the team’s chances of causing a major upset – even in a tough group, are high.
