MPL MY Season 12 kicks off on August 18, and with it comes a string of series for the first week of Regular Season action.
While many of the Mobile Legends Professional League tournaments and the like have already kicked off around the world, MPL MY is beginning its twelfth season on Friday, August 18, 2023. With ten of the best teams from around the region fighting for all the spoils, which includes a guaranteed spot at the M5 World Championships, everyone will be putting their best foot forward. Week 1 comes in with a total of eight series, with all ten teams taking to the Land of Dawn as they try to get a great start to the season.
With that in mind, we take a look at some of the exciting series coming our way this weekend.
Friday, August 18
Todak versus Team SMG
Team Secret versus Team HAQ
The opening day brings us two fantastic series right off the bat, with the two grand finalists of Season 11 kicking things off, before the two qualifier teams battle it out. There is a lot to look out for here, especially in the first series, where Aeliff Adam “Smooth” Bin MD Ariff makes his return for SMG – having claimed the Regular Season MVP in Season 11. For Secret and HAQ, it will be interesting to see which of the two has obtained more firepower in the off-season.
Saturday, August 19
Red Giants Esports versus Team Lunatix
RSG MY versus HomeBois
Team HAQ versus MPX NSEA
While we will all definitely be paying attention to RSG MY, who have brough in the likes of Jonard Cedrix “DemonKite” Caranto from the Philippines, many will also be watching Lunatix closely. After the debacle within the team was resolved earlier today by the MPL MY Committee, the two Myanmar representatives could make for an interesting storyline through the Regular Season.

RED Esports MY vs Red Giants Esports
Team Secret versus Todak
More PH imports come into play on Sunday, as RED bring in the talents of Exort, previously of RSG PH to bolster their composition. Strangely enough, it is no longer a new thing within MPL MY, with only two teams fielding full Malayisan rosters for Season 12 – TODAK and MPX NSEA.
All-in-all, it is a packed weekend of MPL MY Season 12 action, with every team wanting to guarantee themselves the best start to the tournament. There is definitely bound to be a lot of meta-forming in the early parts of the day, while we expect many teams to have already developed their own after last week’s patch.
