The League of Legends (LoL) World Championship 2024, also known as Worlds 2024, is fast approaching as the best teams from all across the world will be battling across six weeks of high-stakes competition for this year's Summoner's Cup.
This year, Worlds will take place across Europe, culminating in the crowning of the best team on the planet. "Make Them Believe" serves as the official campaign tagline for Worlds 2024. This slogan aims to encapsulate the excitement and intensity that surrounds the tournament each year.
The phrase highlights the potential for memorable plays and key moments that can leave a lasting impact on the global League of Legends community. It reflects the idea that the teams and players competing at Worlds have the chance to shape the narrative of the sport, while fans witness some of the most defining moments of the competitive season.

The format builds on last year’s structure but with some significant adjustments.
Play-Ins Stage
The Play-Ins will feature the following eight teams:
- First and second seeds from VCS and PCS
- First seed from LLA and CBLOL
- Third seeds from LEC and LCS
These teams will be divided into two best-of-three, double-elimination brackets. The winners from each bracket will advance to the next stage.
Meanwhile, in the lower bracket, teams with a 1-1 record from opposing brackets will face off for the last two spots in the Swiss Stage. In total, four teams will advance.
Swiss Stage
The four qualified Play-In Stage teams will join the top two seeded teams from the LEC and LCS, as well as the top four seeded teams from the LCK and LPL, in the Swiss Stage. These 16 teams will be drawn into four pools based on their seeding:
- Pool 1: LCK1, LCS1, LEC1, LPL1
- Pool 2: LCK2, LPL2, LCS2, LEC2
- Pool 3: LCK3, LCK4, LPL3, LPL4
- Pool 4: Play-In Stage Teams
In the first round, Pool 1 teams will face Pool 4 teams, and Pool 2 teams will play Pool 3 teams, with no team facing another from their own region. Following this round, a new draw will pair teams with the same record against each other, and this process will be repeated for three more rounds. Teams will need three wins to advance or three losses to be eliminated.
A significant change this year is that teams will not face rematches against previous opponents during these rounds. While the early matches are best-of-one, all advancement and elimination matches will be played as best-of-three.
Knockout Stage
The top eight teams from the Swiss Stage will move on to the Knockout Stage, held in Paris.
Following the Swiss Stage's final day, an on-stage draw will determine the quarterfinal matchups. In this round, teams with a 3-0 record will face teams with a 3-2 record. The remaining teams will then compete against one another.
The Knockouts will follow a best-of-five, single-elimination format, with the high-stakes excitement fans have come to expect from Worlds. Once teams enter this stage, there will be no second chances.
The Grand Final
The tournament will conclude with the Grand Final on November 2, held at the iconic O2 Arena in London.
This will be the most anticipated match of the year, where the 2024 League of Legends World Champion will raise the Summoner’s Cup.
