The Spanish organisation will be making its debut in the LEC next season.
Team Heretics may be new to the LEC starting next season but its lineup will feature some of the biggest names in professional League of Legends. First and foremost is the inclusion of two-time LEC MVP jungler, Marcin "Jankos" Jankowski as well as 10-time LJL champion, Shunsuke "Evi" Murase. The two veterans will join up with Sol-min "Ruby" Lee, Jakob "Jackspektra" Gullvag Kepple, and Mertai "Mersa" Sari.
This comes after the Superliga and European Masters Summer 2022 champion purchased Misfit Gaming's slot in the LEC a few months ago. Despite being with the LEC since the beginning, Misfits could never compete for the top spot, having to always settle for a mid-table position instead. With Heretics purchasing Misfits' slot, they will become the latest second-division team that makes the jump to the big leagues.
Of course, it's the team's top-lane pair of Jankos and Evi that will raise the most eyebrows with both players being some of the biggest names in the game. Jankos requires no introduction in the LEC with five regional titles to his name as well as an MSI championship. As for Evi, he's been a mainstay in the LJL as one of the best toplaners to go with his positive personality. Evi will also be the first-ever Japanese player to play in the LEC; talk about setting new standards.
Mersa is another LEC veteran that will get another chance to prove himself in the big leagues. He's the only player that remains from the former Misfits lineup. As for Ruby and Jackspektra, they will be making their LEC debuts next season after joining the team from Unicorns of Love Sexy Edition and Cream Real Betis respectively.
With only Evi and Jankos boasting any international tournament experience, it will be up to the top lane duo to lead Heretics to new heights. It will be interesting to see how the team fares in the LEC next season, especially with two newcomers on the roster. But with the level of experience Jankos has under his belt, it's time for him to showcase his in-game leadership skills.
