Fnatic bounces back to the top of Group A after defeating Beyond Gaming.
After an unlikely loss against LOUD yesterday, Fnatic puts any doubt to bed by sweeping aside Beyond Gaming. This puts them at the top of Group A while Beyond Gaming slips down to fifth. It was an emphatic win from Fnatic, keeping Fnatic at arm's length for most of the match.
But it was BYG who started the match strongly as Po-Wei "Minji" Lu on Sylas got the first blood by outplaying Marek "Humanoid" Brázda. However, he does die in return after having dived a little too deep under the middle lane turret. Humanoid does get his revenge a few minutes later, getting a return kill on Minji with a little help from Iván "Razork" Martín Díaz.
Humanoid became the main target just moments later, getting caught out and shut down by Wei-Yang "Wako" Zou using Kai'Sa. This gave BYG an opening to claim the first drake before jumping on a Fnatic who were waiting right outside. A long chase soon ensued and it ended up with Minji getting an unofficial triple kill. But while BYG did dominate the early game, it was Fnatic who held a slim gold and level lead against them.
Fnatic soon managed to secure two kills of their own. The first came against Hsin-jun "Kino" Wu after stealing the rift herald from BYG. They soon rotated to the top lane and managed to secure the outer turret as well as take out Li-Kai "Likai" Lao soon after. Some moments later, Fnatic soon started pressuring BYG's bottom lane and after taking the inner turret, Humanoid snipes out Minji before Kino falls a few seconds later.
Even if BYG managed to claim a kill on Fnatic, they would end up trading a death in return. Fnatic was soon picking off members of BYG at will. But the tides soon shifted as Fnatic tried to take the first Baron. On just a sliver of health, Huang "Husha" Zi-Wei slips in and steals the Baron right in front of Fnatic. Sadly, that Baron steal was all BYG could muster as from then on, it was Fnatic's game to lose.
Despite an early game setback, Humanoid and co. managed to take it within their stride and ended up making BYG pay. The prolific midlaner had a field day, taking 11 kills while only dying twice. With that win, Fnatic goes to the top of Group A for now. If Evil Geniuses wins their match against DetonatioN FocusMe later today, it will set up a tiebreaker between Fnatic and EG.
