Nongshim RedForce is looking to be a real force to be reckoned with when the LCK 2022 season starts.
Having already traded Peanut over to Gen.G Esports in favour of Bdd, Nongshim RedForce has brought in additional reinforcement to further bolster their squad ahead of the 2022 season. Kim "Canna" Chang-dong was the first to join from T1, followed by Jang "Ghost" Yong-jun from DWG.KIA. To finalise the roster, Nongshim also brought in the likes of Lee "Dread" Jin-hyeok from Afreeca Freecs as well as Lee "Effort" Sang-ho from Liiv SANDBOX.
Nongshim was very close to making it to their first-ever Worlds but fell short in the LCK Regional Finals, which they lost to Hanwha Life Esports. However, the team has steadily improved on their performances over the last two years, going from finishing in eighth in Summer 2020 to fourth earlier this year is a huge step up. They have since released the entire roster to rebuild from scratch once more but this time with may more promise and potential.
Ghost will surely be the player with the most experience on the squad at this point, being the only one to have a world title under his belt. The likes of Canna and Bdd are also solid pickups from Nongshim as they are both solid players who also had great individual performances at Worlds 2021. Both Canna and Bdd brought their teams to the semifinals of Worlds 2021 with it being the furthest both players have ever gone. As for Ghost, he was part of the DWG squad that went through a thrilling five-game series against EDward Gaming that ultimately ended in their defeat and an end to their would-be dominance.
As for Dread, he has been one of Afreeca's standout players amidst an underwhelming season, having finished ninth in the Spring and sixth in the Summer. Effort has also parted ways with Liiv, who had a decent season but without much to show for. Both Effort and Canna will be on the same team once more, having been on the same roster during their days back in T1.
With a stacked line-up that features a healthy balance of experience and talent, Nongshim is looking to be a force to be reckoned with when the LCK 2022 Spring Split starts in a few months. With three of their core players coming from the top LCK teams, they will bring plenty of composure and creativity to the roster. All three players also have experience when it comes to international tournaments, which will go a long way if the team is looking to make it far.
