Ranking top 10 best League of Legends teams right now

The League of Legends 2024 season is well underway right now with our top 10 best teams at the moment.

As the Lunar New Year approaches, many leagues will be going through a mid-season break with only the LEC Winter Split playing through the month. The LCS will be playing with final weekend of games before going on a break and resuming the group stages in March. The LCK had no games this week but will go back to regular programming by next week onwards while the LPL decided to only play three days' worth of games this week and will only be back on February 18th.

This would be a good time to give you our thoughts on the current top 10 teams around the four major regions in League of Legends. The Mid-Season Invitational is steadily approaching with May well within our sights and this will be a good starting point to gauge on which teams will qualify for the event. This will also be the first time that MSI is being held in China since 2016, which was won by T1 (then known as SK Telekom T1).

Only three teams have managed to maintain a 100 per cent win rate so far with that being Gen.G Esports from the LCK as well as Bilibili Gaming and JD Gaming from the LPL. Granted, both regions are still in its group stage phase alongside the LCS while the LEC is almost at the end of its Winter Split. G2 and Team BDS will go head-to-head in the upper bracket final with both teams just one series win away from booking a slot to MSI.

League of Legends Power Rankings

Gen.G

In typical fashion, Gen.G has maintained a perfect 6-0 record thus far in the LCK Spring Split that saw them dispatch world champions T1 in the opening week followed by another key victory against Dplus KIA. While it's worth noting that Gen.G did drop one match apiece against both T1 and Dplus, the undisputed LCK champions managed to blow past other teams over the past three weeks like Kwangdong Freecs, Nongshim RedForce, FearX, and BRION. While they do have some tricky matches coming up against KT Rolster and Hanwha Life Esports, this is nothing Gen.G isn't used to having won both splits last season in emphatic fashion.

Bilibili Gaming

Last season was an inspired performance from Bilibili Gaming throughout the year after they finished second in both the LPL Spring and Summer splits as well as third at MSI and in the top-four of Worlds 2023. In the first three weeks, BLG have already defeated Top Esports, Royal Never Give Up, Anyone's Legend, EDward Gaming, and LNG Esports. Four out of the five games were resounding 2–0 victories while Top was the only team so far that was able to take a map off of BLG. However, their following round of games include the undisputed LPL champions JD Gaming, who have proven to be more than a thorn in BLG's side in recent memory.

T1

The four-time world champions are coming off of an impressive run at Worlds 2023 and despite losing to Gen.G on the opening week of matches, they have not lost a step on its quest for yet another LCK title. While T1 does hold the current record of eight LCK title, the last time they won a regional split was in Spring 2022 and the last time they did the double was back in the 2019 season. Gen.G's resurgence over the last couple of seasons have put a dent in T1's dominance over the LCK and before that, it was Dplus KIA (formerly known as DWG.KIA). Despite being one of the best teams in the LCK, Gen.G have been one step ahead of them in recent times and it will be exciting to see where both teams will be in the group stage by the time they face one another again during the seventh week of games, which will be in March.

JD Gaming

While this doesn't reflect JD Gaming's overall performance, it's mostly due to the fact that they have only played three games so far in the LPL Spring Split. With that said, they are the third and final team to still maintain a 100 per cent win rate that include Rare Atom, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and LNG Esports. They are also only the second team in LPL history to record three consecutive split victories that span back to Summer 2022. The only other team to do so was EDward Gaming from 2014-2015. JDG also came very close to successfully completing the Golden Road, having won both splits and MSI last year only to be stopped short by T1. JD will have a chance to inflict BLG's first loss when they play them in one-and-a-half weeks' time while also furthering their own run.

G2 Esports

By next Monday, G2 Esports could be the first team to secure a spot to MSI if they are able to defeat Team BDS in the upper bracket final of the LEC Winter Split. As it was only introduced last season and the fact that G2 already won it, they are looking to make it back-to-back Winter Split titles to make it its 13th overall LEC win. So far, G2 is the only org in League that managed to win four splits in a row on two separate occasions. And its match-up against BDS will prove decisive in its journey to head to MSI once again in hopes of recreating its 2019 heroics. G2 already took down Fnatic and GIANTX and also went 7-2 during the regular season with its two losses coming against Rogue and Team Vitality.

Team BDS

The only other LEC team that made it to the list would be Team BDS, who managed to carry over its momentum from Worlds 2023 to bring itself one series away from qualifying for its first-ever MSI appearance. BDS have arguably been the second-best team in the LEC this season, sharing the same regular season score with G2 but lost during the head-to-head. Its only other loss was to Karmine Corp, who have already been eliminated from LEC Winter. One more win and BDS will have a spot in the MSI Play-In Stage, but a loss would see them drop to the lower bracket final. They will then have to wait for one of the six remaining teams in the lower bracket to make its journey for one more chance at the grand final.

Hanwha Life Esports

Having rebuilt yet again with two new additions formerly of Gen.G, Hanwha Life Esports are still steadily making its way to the top of the LCK. Its star-studded roster suffered only one loss so far during the LCK group stage and that was against T1. But aside from that, the team was able to get clean 2–0 results in four of its six games so far that also included Dplus KIA. However, its upcoming series against Gen.G will take place next week and that will determine if HLE has what it takes to try to overthrow the current champions of the LCK.

FlyQuest

Arguably the LCS' best team at the moment, FlyQuest's recent dominance over North America has been nothing short of entertaining. The org refreshed its roster during the off-season and brought in an influx of LCS talent, many of whom had prior experience in the LEC as well. FQ also promoted one of its Challenger players to the main squad and it has since paid dividends as the team has developed a small lead over the only team to have defeated them thus far, NRG. But even with a single loss, FQ has managed to dispatch every team in their way so far that includes Cloud9, Team Liquid, and 100 Thieves to name a few. Its final weekend match-ups will be a repeat of week one where FQ will face Shopify Rebellion and Immortals once more.

Ninjas In Pyjamas

After a poor start last season under the Ninjas in Pyjamas banner, the team has finally got going this season and have managed to maintain a strong second-place in the LPL Spring Split. NiP have played five games so far during the group stage with four wins and one loss with that coming against JD Gaming. However, they will have to maintain this posture if they are to stand any chance of qualifying to the playoffs. Its next few matches include Ultra Prime, EDward Gaming, and LNG Esports, all of whom have had slow starts to the split and are ripe for the picking.

NRG Esports

NRG made its debut during the Summer Split last season and was an immediate impact having won its first LCS title in the process. It also managed to finish in the top eight at Worlds 2023, which showcased just how strong the team can be. They made just a single change during the off-season and so far, the team is tied in a three-way fight for second in the LCS Spring Split alongside Team Liquid and 100 Thieves. While it still is the only team to have defeated FlyQuest so far, NRG still suffered three losses along the way. That includes an opening day loss to Cloud9 as well as shocking back-to-back defeats against Shopify Rebellion and Immortals during Super Week, even after being able to defeat Team Liquid on the first day. They will have a chance to put some distance between itself and the other two teams nearby as it gears up for a rematch against Cloud9 this weekend.
