The Season 2 World Championship is already on the way and nothing but stream lag or stuck in traffic Chinese players can stop it. Most fortunately, the majority of the first playday went on fluently, allowing a sleepless eSports writer with lethal doses of caffeine in his system to bring you this feature, whose purpose it not entirely to point out how dominating Shy and Maknoon were or jape about which of the players did not take a single kill.

Alert the media, we have a metagame revolution: Shen, Ezreal and Alistar and topping the rankings, Karthus is the most picked AP and teams target-ban Froggen's Anivia. Oh, the plot twist.
If we are to be at least a tad bit serious, the only unconventional thing that is worth mentioning is Evelynn's high ban percentages as she's been scratched off in seven of all twelve games. I've been trying to make sense of it for a while now but there just isn't any solid argument to support those numbers and it's really all guesses.
Three of the seven Evelynn bans were in Saigon Jokers - a team that is somewhat known for running Eve's mid - and that would probably explain a lot if it wasn't the fact that she was once banned by the Vietnamese themselves against NaJin Sword. Taking the bait and diving into this rabbit whole, we can follow another tiny string of logic all the way back to the first matches of the tournaments: Evelynn was only banned by (or against) Asian teams even against Westerners that are not at all known for putting her in compositions.
One can speculate that a couple of things are in motion here: a) The Asian meta is heavy on scary Evelynn players and the likes of Azubu Frost and NaJin Sword are just not comfortable against her, preferring to see her out than risk a cheese by the Westerners; b) Westerners know for a fact that Asian teams are prone to running weird compositions and will ban her outright, even if this means giving MaknooN Nidalee or Shen, on which he will later score a combined KDA of 19/6/22 (more on that in the next section).
If we're to put more fluff to the article, we can note the absence of Shen in the top 5 most banned (a bit surprising given that he was regionals' most banned champion) but since he's top 3 most wanted the world is still normal.
KDA Coefficient is calculated by the formula (Kills + Assists)/Deaths. Fortunately, everybody died at least once so we did not break the universe. As CS for supports is irrelevant stat, total gold has been calculated instead in table 3.

The moral of the "who are the best players in the groups" story is very apparent: NaJin Sword have four of their players in the Top by KDA ranking and another one in the farmers' race, something most people expected after following Koreans' thrashing run through Group B. MaknooN's reputation preceded him long before NaJin's top laner landed in Los Angeles but one cannot say he did not live up to it. With a 26/2/28 combined score across his three games, MaknooN is not only with the forth highest KDA in the tournament so far, but also the one with the best stats when it comes to killing people, landing at a record of 54 kills + assists and leaving the second in this race - Frost's jungler CloudTemplar - a good 12 points behind. Even more impressive is the score of NaJin's support Cain, who topped the best KDA ranking thanks to dying just two times in all of his games.
In the land of creep score, CLG.eu's Froggen broke all kinds of records, landing at almost a thousand creeps combined and farming, on average, the monstrous 330 creeps per game. I guess one could argue it's easy doing this with Karthus and Orianna but how about the fact that the next AP in the list is good 260 CS behind?
Ironically, both Yellowstar and Doublelift - ADs of the already eliminated SK and CLG.Prime - also found their way into the top six, clearly indicating that teams' problems lay elsewhere, namely junglers that lacked presence, incoherence in team fights and low KDA (interconnected concepts). In fact, everybody one those teams but bigfatlp had a KDA coefficient below the 2.0 and an averaged jungler score of 0.98 between HotShotGG and Areneae.
Finally, the "Best players by roles" table is unanimous enough on who's the best jungler thus far. Favoring Shen and Maokai, Frost's CloudTemplar is not just the only Frost member and the only jungler to make this spotlight, leaving NaJin's Watch just 0.5 points behind in terms of KDA. To see if he can continue his hot streak, CloudTemplar will go against TSM's OddOne today as the two teams will battle out in the second quarter final match.
