It's the most wonderful time of the year. That awkward moment in between HGC phases where teams take a step back and review their current standings, along with player changes. Also known as HGC rosterpocalypse.
While you've probably seen the changes on your twitter feed, the biggest news so far come from HGC team B-Step, announcing their complete roster disbandment after ending Phase 1 in 5th place with a 6-8 record and failing to qualify for the Mid-Season Brawl.
Team manager, Zoia, posted the announcement along with informing that aPm would also be retiring from professional Heroes.
The announcement also hints that this will not be the end of the road for these players: “This should not come as a total surprise to most of you as these are all very talented players who deserve the best offers and orgs that can support them.”
Considering Gale Force eSports, Team Freedom and No Tomorrow have all announced various player drops, there’s a good chance these players have found offers elsewhere with one of these HGC teams.
Regardless of the players future, this begs the question: Who will replace B-Step in the HGC going into Phase Two?
According to section 4.6 in the Heroes HGC Phase 1 rules: “The highest ranked Team in the North American Open Division with replace the disqualified team.”
By this rule, Even in Death will replace B-Step as they won the Open Division Playoffs.
With an update on HGC teams throughout the regions, Blizzard confirmed Tuesday that Even in Death would in fact be replacing B-Step.
Even in Death now joins the group of eight elite teams from the North American region for the HGC Premier League which will begin Phase two in June after the conclusion of the Mid-Season Brawl.
