Resurgence Gaming disbanded after the players and manager decided to part ways and move on to new adventures.
Resurgence disbanded after a series of tweets and well-written letter from team captain Austin "Shot" Lonsert explaining the situation.
"The team has been through a lot in the past months," the letter begins. "Never really catching a break."
Shot is referring to two separate instances, one where the team had been DDoS'd in the third NA Spring Regional qualifier and another where Equinox got disconnected in the fourth qualifier and the team manager had to play. The team didn't qualify for the LAN in Los Angeles.
"So we moved on to take a week break because we were devastated. After we came back we started to work on improving again," the letter continues. "Until Kilick brought up that he would be leaving the team. He decided he would rather continue working on his business and maybe pursue coaching or managing."
After losing Kilick the team tried to continue, but then Fury announced he was leaving.
With Fury's disheartening announcement, the rest of the team followed suit.
Luckily, it seems to be all on good terms. "I respect the hell out of all my teammates," said Shot. "That includes the ones that left."
This isn't nearly the first time we've seen a HotS team disband, and it sure won't be the last. I'm sure we'll be seeing more ex-Resurgence crew in the future.
