Jon "Orange" Westberg is the champion of the ESL Legendary Series Katowice. He's also $13,000 richer after beating Jason "Amaz" Chan 3-0 in the finals.
The young Swede first made the headlines after he qualified for the M-House Cup in December last year. Since then, Orange beat several more qualifiers, including the ones for Pinnacle 2, ESL Katowice and HouseCup #2, becoming one of the hottest new prospects on the Hearthstone scene.
Despite his explosive start in preliminary tournaments, Orange's first televised appearances, namely in the Kinguin Pro League, did not go well and he's currently on the bottom of the Horde division with 0-2 score to his name. Nevertheless, eyes were on him as he travelled to Katowice for the offline portion of the $30,000 ESL major, riding the momentum of a 3-2 victory over Aleksandr "Kolento" Malsh in the first round.
Kolento wouldn't be the only big name that Orange had to defeat on his way to eventual championship. In the quarter finals, a lucky [card]Ragnaros the Firelord[/card] shot won him the series against Dima "Rdu" Radu in the deciding fifth game and Orange advanced to play another strong up-and-comer, the Dane Erik "Inderen" Kristensen.
There began the easier part of Orange's journey. A dominant 3-0 against Inderen placed him in the grand finals where he dealt another blank score to Jason "Amaz" Chan, denying team Archon back-to-back championships this week.
Now with a major championship to his name, Orange will now look towards getting another one as he'll soon be packing for HouseCup #2. He will be playing on local soil, sharing a group with TidesofTime, TiddlerCelestial and Roger and competing for a share of the $25,000 total prize pool.
