Team Archon grows to seven members as Paul "Zalae" Nemeth and Ryan "PurpleDrank" Murphy-Root were signed today.
Ever since it was founded in November last year, the story of team Archon was one of expansion. The roster started with popular streamer Jason "Amaz" Chan as the captain alongside James "Firebat" Kostesich and Raphael "Hosty" Tsantili. In the next two months, however, the roster doubled in size as Archon attracted Brent "Backspace" Kaskel in December to work as the team manager and in January DeerNadia and ladder king Sebastian "Xixo" Bentert were acquired.
In late January, Archon had to say goodbye to Hosty following his involvement in cheating controversy during The Pinnacle #2 tournament and for the first time, the roster shrank in size. Today, however, Archon are getting back on the expansion path, getting two more North Americans to the team.
Paul "Zalae" Nemeth is arguably the more known name of the two. The American made his major break-out just recently, finishing top four in the ESL Legendary finals in Burbank, California, losing in the semis to eventual runner-up Keaton "Chakki" Gil. Ryan "PurpleDrank" Murphy-Root, on the other hand, is still searching for his televised debut, despite being known in the community as an exceptional ladder player. PurpleDrank will also act as the team's coach. Both players have moved to the Archon team house and will be staying there from now on.
Archon might grow yet more in the future, though, as GosuGamers sources indicate that warrior revolutionist Andrew "Kitkatz" Deschanel, also currently staying in the Archon team-house, is being considered as a potential signee.
In his statement, team owner Amaz writes:
I was quite impressed by Zalae's play especially in the ESL Legendary Series. The OTK Warlock deck is definitely one most people remember. We are excited to bring him in as one of our pro players.
I also played with Purpledrank numerous times and his knowledge of the game is amazing, not to mention he also coaches our Blizzcon World Champion Firebat. He will be joining the team under the title of Archon Coach.
These players will be active in the community so make sure you follow their streams and twitters!”
