High Stakes Poker is replacing their host and long time cast member, Gabe Kaplan, with veteran funny man Norm Macdonald. He will replace Kaplan as the main commentator of action with Kara Scott returning for intros, behind the scenes reporting, and interviews.
The new season begins Saturday, February 26th, at 8:00PM ET and 11:00PM ET on GSN.
In addition to comedy and acting, Norm is a passionate poker player who has competed in the World Series of Poker and in many celebrity poker tournaments. Norm was a cast member on Saturday Night Live starting in 1993 where he anchored Weekend Update. He also starred in two separate sitcoms: Norm and A Minute With Stan Hooper. He’s currently making the rounds across the country on a stand-up tour.
Not only is High Stakes Poker getting a new host, they are also getting a new dimension. The poker program will air in 3D for its seventh season on DirecTV’s 3D channel n3D. High Stakes Poker will be the first poker show to be broadcast in 3D, and it’s the first GSN show to do the same. The 3D shows will begin airing this Spring.
