Is Doyles Room On The Move Again?

It is starting to appear that Doyles Room is joining the exodus from Cake Poker Network that has occurred over the past year.

In a story originating on PTP, there are several clues that indicate that Doyles Room is looking to leave the Cake Poker Network for a new home.

  • Numerous problems with affiliate Rake Race payments that Doyles Room staff blames on Cake Poker Network.
  • The site has been unavailable for download for nearly two weeks.
  • Doyle Brunson indicating on Twitter that he has been in Costa Rica for a series of meetings, where Cake doesn't have significant offices but competing networks do.
  • The network has lost significant traffic over the last year.
  • Cake Poker recently lost their poker manager Lee Jones and tournament manager Adanthar due to their "not being happy with the direction the company was going."
  • PTR recently cracking Cake Poker's encryption, when they stated it was safe for players. They subsequently upgraded to SSL encryption but there is still controversy surrounding their Gold Card redemption program.

Zimba analysis:
Doyles Room has shifted poker networks several times in the last decade, so another switch would not be surprising. With Doyle Brunson as your figurehead and the increasingly young demographic of their Brunson 10 pros, it will be interesting to see where they end up. Some speculation has a combination with UB in the works. That seems to jibe with Joe Sebok's recent statements of UB shaking things up in 2011 after the recent departure of Phil Hellmuth and Annie Duke.
