Riders Republic to get a movie adaptation with Bad Boys directors

The Bad Boys directing duo teams up with Ubisoft and Gaumont to bring alpine action to the big screen in a new live-action feature.

Ubisoft’s extreme sports hit Riders Republic is set to make the leap from consoles to cinema. The announcement was made via Ubisoft’s website on Wednesday (14 May).

The live-action adaptation will be developed by Gaumont and Ubisoft Film & Television, with directing duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah – known collectively as Adil & Bilall – attached to helm the project. Gérard Guillemot and Margaret Boykin are overseeing the project on behalf of Ubisoft.

Gaumont and Ubisoft Film & Television lead production with Adil & Bilall on board to direct

Known for Bad Boys for Life and Bad Boys: Ride or Die, the Belgian filmmakers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah have brought in over $830 million globally across both instalments. This time, they will bring their action-driven style to the slopes of the Alps, where Riders Republic is set.  Nothing else has been revealed about the story that will take place in the movie adaptation.

The screenplay will be in the hands of Noé Debré, the award-winning French writer behind Dheepan (Palme d’Or, Cannes 2015), Stillwater, and The World Is Yours. Sidonie Dumas and Rémi Cervoni are producing for Gaumont, with Jordan Cohen producing for Ubisoft Film & Television.

First published and developed by Ubisoft Annecy, Riders Republic immerses players in massive multiplayer action, offering a chaotic mix of biking, skiing, snowboarding, wingsuit flying and more. The game has continually kept up to date with seasonal content updates, the latest of which introduced the drifting Pockett Car, a revamped park creator, and new competitive live events in March 2025.

Ubisoft Film & Television continues to adapt the publisher’s franchises for other media while also developing original projects inspired by gaming culture. Its original series Mythic Quest and Side Quest are available on Apple TV+, while the animated series Splinter Cell: Deathwatch is scheduled to premiere on Netflix in 2025. A live-action Watch Dogs film is also in development, with a release planned for 2026.
