Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition set for Nintendo Switch 2

The critically-acclaimed Elden Ring has announced the Tarnished Edition for Nintendo Switch 2.

Nintendo has announced the arrival of Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition for the Nintendo Switch 2. The announcement was made during the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct on Wednesday, 2 April. The game currently has no fixed release date, only the year, which is 2025.

Details regarding the differences in the Tarnished Edition have yet to be announced, as announcements will be made at a later date.

Elden Ring is a game by FromSoftware that was released in 2022. It has been a massive success, both commercially and critically. The game also has an expansion called Shadow of the Erdtree, released in 2024, which also saw commercial and critical success.

Elden Ring is a full open-world RPG with world-building from George R. R. Martin, known for the novels in and related to the A Song of Ice and Fire series. A multiplayer spin-off, Elden Ring: Nightreign, will be released this year. The game combines the essence of battle royale gameplay with roguelike elements, and locations from Elden Ring.

Each run takes place over three nights, and the total time for a single match is around 30 to 45 minutes, with a continually shrinking map. Players can make groups of three. They choose one of eight classes and must survive all three nights, culminating in a final boss fight.
