The PlayStation Beta Program has opened its registration for everyone, as long you are within network coverage.
The PlayStation Beta program has officially launched and opened its registration for everyone globally. The Beta Program will be available for everyone meeting certain requirements, including being in the PlayStation network coverage.
Here are the requirements for the PlayStation Beta program taken from the official PlayStation Blog:
- Players must have a valid account for PlayStation Network that is in good standing and has a current email address. Accounts with restrictions or violations may not be eligible for participation.
- Players must live in the region where the Beta Program at PlayStation is available.
- Players must meet the legal age requirement for their region.
Also, according to the blog, the Beta program at PlayStation will create a centralised place for players to register their interest in a range of future PlayStation betas. Registration will be considered as interest in gaining beta access to test participating games for the PS5 console and PC, new PS5 console features, PlayStation App features, and user experience features on PlayStation.com.
The program is free to join but has limited capacity. Players interested in joining aren't guaranteed to be selected depending on how many people registered for the program. Furthermore, a nondisclosure agreement must be signed before participating in a beta, and there's no obligation to participate if invited.
Sony has launched a number of beta tests for their new features in the past. The difference is players must register their interest each time the beta tests are announced. This is the first time the company has tried to streamline the registration process, so players only need to register once to be considered for future beta tests.
