The Blastoise Drop event coincides with the New Year event, which allows players to gain more rewards.
It’s just the beginning of the year and yet, the widely popular mobile game Pokémon TCG Pocket is already loading up its players with updates and events. Aside from an updated Premium Pass and the ongoing New Year’s commissions, players can now upgrade their water-type decks with the Blastoise Drop Event.
The event runs from 1 January until 15 January at 13:59 Singapore Time. Event period and details are subject to change without notice.
During the event, players can earn limited-time TCG Pocket cards from single-card Promo-A Vol. 3 packs by completing solo battles against Water-type decks which Squirtle, Wartotle, and Blastoise among others.
There are four decks to challenge, with each increasing in difficulty as they are unlocked. Victories against any of these decks reward players with a chance to obtain a promo pack, which will be sent to their Gift box. Additionally, players can earn more promo packs by repeatedly challenging and winning against any of the four solo-play decks.
What’s included in the pack?
Players can get any of the following cards through the Promo-A Vol. 3 pack:
- Snivy
- Volcarona
- Blastoise
- Eevee
- Cinccino
The Blastoise included in this pack isn’t the Blastoise EX card. And while that may sound like a downer, this card is not only pretty (for the collectors), but it’s also a safer option, only granting the opponent one point for a knockout instead of two. The card has 150 HP with Hydro Pump, which delivers 90 base damage for two Water Energy and one additional energy of any type. Attaching two more Water Energy increases its base power to 140.
This event overlaps with Pokemon TCG Pocket’s New Year Event which runs until 7 January, where players can also earn a Pikachu promo card and a New Year Frame backdrop for completing the New Year missions. Some additional missions were also added which can reward players with booster packs and others.
