Rockstar Games is bringing Red Dead Redemption to PC at long last.

Developer Rockstar Games has announced that its 2010 action-adventure game Red Dead Redemption is finally coming to PC this October. The port will launch on Rockstar Store, Steam and Epic Games Store with its horror-themed expansion Undead Nightmare in tow, and a few visual upgrades like ultrawide screen support, HDR10 and more included.

Here’s a look at the PC port:

Red Dead Redemption heads to PC this October

Rockstar Games has confirmed that it’s finally porting Red Dead Redemption over to PC, 14 long years after the game’s original release. The 2010 open world Western game was finally brought to current-gen platforms when it hit the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 last year, and it looks like all the work that went into creating those console ports paved the way for a PC port too.

Rockstar is working with developer Double Eleven to make this PC port happen. According to a news release, the PC port will include the following features:

  • Native 4K resolution and beyond at up to 144hz on supported hardware
  • Monitor support for both Ultrawide (21:9) and Super Ultrawide (32:9)
  • Full keyboard and mouse support
  • Upscaling technologies support for Nvidia DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.0
  • Nvidia DLSS Frame Generation
  • Adjustable draw distances, shadow quality settings, and more

Here are the game’s minimum system requirements, according to Steam:

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10 64-Bit
  • Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-4670 / AMD FX-9590
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 / AMD Radeon R7 360
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 12 GB available space
  • Sound Card: Direct X Compatible

Here are the recommended system requirements:

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10 64-Bit
  • Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-8500 / AMD Ryzen 5 3500X
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA RTX 2070 / AMD RX 5700 XT
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 12 GB available space
  • Sound Card: Direct X Compatible
  • Additional Notes: SSD recommended

If you’ve played Red Dead Redemption 2, you’d be remiss to skip its predecessor, a spaghetti Western-like tale that takes place after the events of its sequel. In Red Dead Redemption, players follow John Marston, a former outlaw who gets blackmailed into hunting down surviving members of his old Van der Linde gang. This adventure takes him across the evolving American frontier, as civilisation begins to overtake the era of cowboys and ne’er-do-wells.

This port also comes with Red Dead Redemption’s non-canon expansion Undead Nightmare, which puts a zombified twist on the original game’s cast of characters. Red Dead Redemption will launch on Rockstar Store, Steam and Epic Games Store on October 29, 2024.
