Skibidi Toilet company sends DMCA to Garry’s Mod

Source: Dafuq!?Boom!

Garry Newman, who created Garry’s Mod, has revealed that Skibidi Toilet’s company Invisible Narratives LLC has filed a DMCA against him.

In a message to the official s&box discord server, Garry Newman stated that he received a DMCA strike for Copyright Infringement filed against him by none other than Skibidi Toilet.

The DMCA strike notes that original content related to Skibidi Toilet has made appearances in unauthorised Garry’s Mod games. The “original content” noted are the Titan Cameraman, Titan Speakerman, Titan TV Man, and Skibidi Toilet. The DMCA strike also alleges that “significant revenue” was generated due to the unauthorised usage.

A few hours after Newman revealed the DMCA, Skibidi Toilet creator Dafuq!?Boom! allegedly joined the s&box discord server and left a message looking for a way to contact Newman. He states that he did not send the DMCA notice.

Fans and discord members at first thought that the DMCA strike was falsely filed by someone impersonating Dafuq!?Boom!, who created the whole Skibidi Toilet franchise. However, a quick search on the official United States Copyright Office website will display the full copyright data regarding the characters stated in the strike. We can assume that the company listed, Invisible Narratives LLC, could have filed the strike instead of the Skibidi Toilet creator himself.

This whole situation is complicated, as the Skibidi Toilet characters were created using assets from Garry’s Mod, which in turn used assets from the Half-Life series created by Valve software.

This isn’t the first time that Newman has been struck with a DMCA. Just this April, Newman also confirmed that Nintendo-related mods created through the Garry’s Mod sandbox have received a strike from Nintendo itself.

The Skibidi Toilet DMCA strike comes right after the announcement of an upcoming Skibidi Toilet movie and show franchise headed by Michael Bay, who directed the Transformers, and former Paramount Pictures president Adam Goodman.
