Hades 2 is officially launching as a timed Nintendo Switch console exclusive

Hades 2 will launch on both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

Game developer Supergiant Games has confirmed that its upcoming dungeon-crawler sequel Hades 2 will launch as a Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive on consoles. The game will still launch on PC as planned, as it is already in the midst of early access on the platform.

Supergiant Games confirmed the news in a Creator’s Voice video:

Hades 2 will launch as a timed console exclusive for Nintendo Switch

Hades 2 was recently confirmed for a Nintendo Switch 2 launch at the console’s big reveal stream. However, it looks like the roots of this collaboration between developer Supergiant and Nintendo run deep, as the game is also launching as a Nintendo-exclusive title for consoles. PC players need not fear, however; the game entered early access on PC in 2024, and will launch on the platform when the early access period is over.

Hades 2 is a direct sequel to the critically-acclaimed rogue-like Hades, which featured the son of Hades, Zagreus, attempting to escape the Underworld. Its aforementioned sequel is markedly different, with a new protagonist named Melinoe embarking on a very different quest: to find and defeat the Titan of Time, Chronos, and free her family from imprisonment.

Hades 2’s timed exclusivity shouldn’t come out of left field. The first game also launched first on PC, Mac, and Nintendo Switch in 2020. It only launched on PlayStation and Xbox consoles one year later, in 2021. If this pattern holds, PlayStation and Xbox players will only be able to get their hands on Hades 2 sometime in 2026.

Hades 2 is set to launch on PC, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2 in 2025.
