Fans of Honkai: Star Rail were shocked to find that Adam Michael Gold, who voices Argenti and Tail, has been quietly replaced.
The voice actor listing for characters on the official Honkai: Star Rail website has removed Adam Michael Gold as the voice actor for the 5-star character Argenti and Tail, the companion of the 5-star character Huohuo. In Gold's stead, Talon Warburton and Aaron Veach have now been listed as the voice actors for Argenti and Tail, respectively.
This came as a shock to fans who enjoyed Gold’s performance, as no formal announcement was made in any of the official Honkai: Star Rail social media pages, nor was there any statement from Gold himself.
It is worth noting that in the past couple of versions, Argenti’s appearances in the game story quests were not voiced in the English patch. This has been noted by HoYoverse as a bug, as the character was voiced in other languages.
Gold himself confirmed that HoYoverse was working out the bug and hoped that it would be resolved in a reply to a concerned fan in X (formerly Twitter) back in May.
The sudden replacement of Argenti’s voice actor raised some concern within the community, given the recent controversy regarding the 4-star character Moze’s former English voice actor.
Moze was initially voiced by Chris Niosi, who, in 2019, admitted to abusive and manipulative behaviour in 2019, much to the outrage and disappointment of fans. Due to the backlash regarding the announcement of his casting, Niosi would step down from the role just 5 days after the news of his casting was broadcasted to HSR’s social media pages.
There have been no official announcements or statements from Honkai: Star Rail regarding the replacement of Adam Michael Gold as of yet.
Update - 30 July, 2024
Adam Michael Gold has released an official statement to his X account, citing his reason for departure as a divergence of paths between himself and the roles of Argenti and Mr. Tail.
