New photos from the set of James Gunn’s Superman movie have revealed its actors in full superhero garb.
Images from the set of the James Gunn-directed Superman movie have surfaced online, as the main cast congregated in Cleveland, Ohio for filming this week. The images, which are now all over social media, were first posted by Twitter/X user Clevelanddotcom, showing off characters like the titular Man of Steel, Mister Terrific and Lois Lane in costume for the movie.
While Superman’s costume was originally unveiled in early May this year, this is the best look fans have gotten at the full suit in motion. The images also feature Mister Terrific and Lois Lane in costumes which have never before been seen. Be warned, however: these images could contain spoilers for the first DCU movie, which releases next year.

New set photos from the production of Warner Bros. Pictures’ upcoming Superman movie have surfaced online, as filming takes place in the city of Cleveland, Ohio. The city has been remodelled to look like the fictional city of Metropolis from DC Comics, with prop rubble, destroyed cars and more littering its streets for the duration of filming.
These images give fans a better look at David Corenswet in costume as Clark Kent, AKA Superman, complete with the iconic ‘S’ shield on the back of his cape. Other pictures see the hero interacting with Edi Gathegi, who plays the genius superhero Michael Holt, AKA Mister Terrific. Also spotted on set were Rachel Brosnahan in Lois Lane’s signature purple duds, and Wendell Pierce as the Daily Planet newspaper’s editor-in-chief Perry White.
It looks like Superman is leaning on classic comic book visuals for its costume design, as each character looks ripped right out of the pages of DC Comics. Even Mister Terrific is wearing his signature motorcycle jacket and T-shaped mask. Mister Terrific will be one of the many members of the Justice Society of America to feature in this film, including Guy Gardner/Green Lantern (Nathan Filion) and Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced).
Superman is written and directed by James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy), and is expected to kick off a rebooted DC Universe (DCU) when it hits theaters on July 11, 2025. Its synopsis reads: “‘Superman’ tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”
The movie will be followed by Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow on June 26, 2026. Several more movie and TV projects are being planned for the DCU, including Season 2 of Peacemaker, a Batman movie, a Green Lantern series and a Booster Gold series.
