More Diablo for your Diablo.
Next month marks Diablo Immortal’s one-year anniversary, and what better way to celebrate the occasion than play Diablo 4? The highly-anticipated action-RPG launches next month, just in time for Diablo Immortal’s newly-revealed Merciless Monstrosity event. The event contains a special crossover with Diablo 4, and plenty of new content like a new zone and class.
Blizzard describes the crossover as such:
The creation of Sanctuary by Inarius and Lilith is a storied tale; its impact can still be felt today. The Merciless Monstrosity event, Children of Lilith Battle Pass, and Hatred’s Heritage Phantom Market will be experienceable expressions of Sanctuary’s matriarch. Your opportunity to let sin flow freely will arrive in early June.
Seeing as Diablo 4’s story campaign largely centers around Mephisto’s daughter Lilith, one can safely expect this tie-in content to be based on her and the angel Inarius. There will be a full Battle Pass containing Diablo 4 cosmetics, and more skins and in-game items will hit the shop. No story content was mentioned for this crossover, unfortunately.
Beyond special Diablo 4 cosmetics, the mobile game is also getting some chunky gameplay additions. A mystery class (teased with a vampiric-looking silhouette) is coming to the game, and it, “favours a mid-range playstyle using a classic weapon type,” according to Blizzard. The developer also teases that it will, “bleed new blood,” and calls the class, “monstrous,” so, yeah. It’s totally a vampire.
Players will also get a new chapter in the main questline in mid-June, which brings them a new PvP zone event, sidequests, bounties and more enemy types. A new zone will be introduced through your pursuit of the Cult of Terror, which leads you to a mystical island referred to as ‘Ancients’ Cradle’. A new zone is always welcome, and it looks like this one has big story implications too.
Of course, you could just play Diablo 4 instead. Blizzard has detailed the game’s post-launch plans, which include battle passes and in-game shop cosmetics. Its first season of content begins in July, but you’ll need to beat the story before getting started on that. Blizzard will likely reveal more plans for Diablo 4 and Diablo Immortal’s respective futures during BlizzCon 2023, where the event returns as a fully in-person shindig on November 3 to 4.
Hopefully, we’ll get more news on Overwatch 2’s disastrous PvE mode.
