Diablo Immortal’s latest content update gives players free rewards and… fish?
Diablo Immortal players will soon get to cast their rods into Sanctuary’s blood-soaked waters to do some good old fashioned fishing. Blizzard is adding fishing to the action-RPG as a new activity on February 22 this week, following roughly four hours of server maintenance. The new Content Update also gives players some freebies, and adds 36 new Legendary items.
The big ticket item of this update is fishing, a new activity that will be available to players starting from Level 43. At that point, they’ll be able to travel to Bilefen and kick off The Greatest Pastime Quest, which starts them on the path to becoming an angler of Sanctuary legend by giving them a fishing rod.
Players will only be able to fish at three designated fishing spots in Sanctuary: Ashwold Cemetery, Bilefen and the Frozen Tundra. These areas are easy to spot due to the fish icon hovering over them in the Zone map, and the fact that they’re safe zones. That means Sanctuary’s monsters cannot venture into these fishing spots and give you a hard time.
To fish, players will need to purchase bait from a Fisher and then click on the Rod icon. Once you’ve decided to fish, settle in and watch the fishing timer fill up. The higher it gets, the higher your chance of reeling in something rare, but keep in mind that fish can also disappear if you let it get too high. Different rarities of fish can be exchanged for different rewards at the Fisher, including random-rarity items and fishing rod cosmetics. Sanctuary has 40 species of fish, and Angler’s Log rewards will be available to anyone who wants to catch ‘em all.
36 new Legendary items are also being added to the game for all character classes, and Blizzard is celebrating its various Game of the Year accolades by giving away a special rewards bundle consisting of three Legendary Crests, one random Set item, one random Legendary item and six Normal Gems. Players can find these goodies in their mailbox, and the full patchnotes for this week’s update here.
