OG lost against Team Secret and Night Pulse, resulting in elimination from the PGL Wallachia S4 qualifier.
Two-time The International (TI) winning organization, OG, failed to qualify for PGL Wallachia Season 4 after crashing out of the tournament's Western European Closed Qualifier following consecutive defeats against
Team Secret and
Night Pulse.
This result follows OG’s recent roster shuffle which re-added Sébastien “Ceb” Debs to their active lineup and introduced 19-year-old position four player,
Tamir “daze” Tokpanov, who last played for
Natus Vincere Junior. The team also announced that this will be a definite lineup for the remainder of 2025.
OG’s Dota 2 roster is as follows:
Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon
Leon “Nine” Kirilin
Sébastien “Ceb” Debs
Tamir “daze” Tokpanov
Jian Wei “xNova-” Yap
OG eliminated from PGL Wallachia S4 qualifiers
PGL is one of the many tournament organizers hosting a series of Dota 2 competitions throughout the year, with the fourth edition of their renowned series, PGL Wallachia, already underway with qualifiers for six regions.
OG, competing in the cutthroat Western Europe region, faced an early elimination in the qualifier rounds. Their first match was against Team Secret, reigniting a nostalgic rivalry for fans. However, Secret swiftly dominated the series, sending OG to the lower bracket.
In their next match, OG faced Night Pulse, an Eastern European stack from the Open Qualifiers. Unfortunately, OG suffered another defeat, losing in three games, and thus failed to qualify for PGL Wallachia Season 4. This defeat stung particularly hard for OG, as they had previously qualified for PGL Wallachia Season 3.
OG's rocky start to 2025 continues
As the new year began, many teams underwent restructuring and lineup changes, hoping to see improved performances. Fans were particularly hopeful for OG, as the legendary organisation has faced a rough few years.
The team hasn't tasted victory since 2022, and for the past year, has struggled to even qualify for Tier 1 events. It's been a disappointing journey for the team, and unfortunately, the start of 2025 has been shaping up similarly.
Since January, OG has failed to qualify for major events such as DreamLeague Season 25, ESL One Raleigh, and PGL Wallachia Season 4. However, the team did manage to qualify for PGL Wallachia Season 3, offering a glimmer of hope for fans.
OG also recently participated in a Tier 3 Southeast Asian event, where they were the only European team. Unfortunately, they placed third behind teams like The MongolZ and
Execration, which was a huge upset.
What’s next for OG?
As of February 7, OG confirmed that their roster is now "locked in," with no further changes expected for the rest of the year. The blend of experienced veterans and the fresh talent of daze could be the key to their redemption. With a stable lineup moving forward, the team now has the opportunity to build cohesion and focus on long-term success.
OG's next challenge will be the FISSURE Universe Episode 4: Western Europe Closed Qualifier, which begins on Thursday (February 13). After that, they will head to Bucharest to compete in PGL Wallachia Season 3 in March.
