OG move Ari to inactive roster

This roster move comes after a lackluster start to the year for OG.

Iconic Dota 2 organisationOG announced on Wednesday (January 29) that they have moved British position 4 support player Matthew “Ari” Walker to their inactive roster.

Ari first joined OG in November 2023 alongside Adrian “Wisper” Cespedes Dobles, as part of the organisation's rebuilding efforts following their failure to qualify for The International (TI) 2023. However, OG's struggles only continued in the 2024 season as they once again failed to qualify for TI in consecutive years for the first time in the organisation's history. In that span, the team's best results were a fourth place finish in ESL One Birmingham 2024 and a second place finish in FISSURE UNIVERSE: Episode 2.

Ari's transfer to OG's inactive roster marks the latest of many roster moves for one of the most storied teams in the history of Dota 2 desperately trying to regain their past glory.

Ahead of the start of the 2025 season, OG signed three veteran players in Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon, Leon “Nine” Kirilin, and Jian Wei “xNova-” Yap, while Bozhidar “bzm” Bogdanov and Wisper left the squad. OG stalwart and two-time TI champion Sébastien “Ceb” Debs also cycled in and out of the main roster.

Despite that flurry of roster moves, OG struggled in the qualifier gauntlet that kickstarted the 2025 Dota 2 season earlier this month. OG finished 7th-8th in the Wester European qualifiers for DreamLeague Season 25 and ESL One Raleigh 2025, though they did manage to qualify for PGL Wallachia Season 3 after finishing second in the qualifier.

With Ari's exit from OG's main roster, his replacement is expected to be announced sometime next month before PGL Wallachia Season 3 kicks off in March. The team is also currently without an offlaner, with Ceb once again getting cycled out from the lineup while Danilo “ChodeX” Popović was tapped as a stand-in for the ESL One Raleigh qualifiers.

“[Ari] has been a valued part of our journey throughout the past year and we are grateful for his contributions to the team,” OG said in its statement announcing Ari's move to their inactive roster.
