BOOM Esports drop DJ less than a month after signing him

Three weeks and a couple of botched qualifier legs is all it took for BOOM Esports to part ways with Djardel "DJ" Mampusti.

DJ joined BOOM Esports last month in the post TI13 shuffle when the organisation left South America and returned home to build a full Southeast Asian team. DJ came in as position 5 but the team captainship went to Timothy John "TIMS" Randrup, who is playing from the soft support role.

BOOM’s new SEA roster got to compete in only two regional qualifiers during the three weeks DJ was a part of the team. Unfortunately, the team fell short of a spot at the upcoming BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024 and DreamLeague Season 24, each tournament being held with $1,000,000 on the line.

While DJ departs from the team, Ghost and Mac, who were initially introduced as trials, are still on the roster. However, it is unclear if BOOM is looking to make more chances in the coming days.

In terms of competitive schedule for the new season, there are a few LAN tournaments with the team lineup already decided and ready to kick off later this month, but a new round of qualifiers is expected to unfold in the coming weeks as well as ESL One Bangkok 2024 is announced to take place in the Thailand capital mid-December. 

Besides that, the Dota 2 scene will also witness BLAST’s return to the game with BLAST Slam I scheduled to unfold in mid-November in Copenhagen, Denmark. However, BLAST Slam will be an invite-only event and the chances for BOOM to be on the invite list are rather slim.
